Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Human Mind Publishing (“we”, “us”) collects through whypeopledothat.com and the Why People Do That newsletter, and how it is used.

Information we collect

Your email address, if you subscribe. When you join the newsletter, we receive your email address and the page you signed up from. We use it to send you the newsletter and messages about it, and for nothing else.

Visit counts. We use Umami, an analytics tool that doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t collect personal information, to see which pages are read. It tells us about pages, not about people.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard logs, including IP addresses, browser type and pages requested, to keep the site working and secure.

We don’t use advertising trackers, and we never sell or rent personal information.

Who handles it for us

The newsletter is sent with MailCheap, which stores subscriber addresses for us under its own privacy terms. The site is hosted by a third-party hosting provider.

How long we keep it

Your email address stays on our list while you’re subscribed. When you unsubscribe, you stop receiving emails and your address is removed from the active list.

Your choices and rights

Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by writing to [email protected]. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA may give you further rights, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Children

The site and newsletter are meant for adults, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Updates to this policy

When this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date below.
